The 2021 Coretex Graduates

The Coretex graduates are valued members of our team, bringing with them fresh ideas, enthusiasm, and perspectives. This is what they had to say about their experience after university - 

Artem Novitckii

What did you study and where? 

Computer Science and Information Systems - University of Auckland

What attracted you to Coretex? 

I care a lot about the environment and Coretex’ vision of creating a cleaner, greener world aligned with my values and instantly connected me to the company. The wide range of different technologies used in Coretex also made me excited because it meant I could learn many different things and upskill.

What is the best part about your job?

The best part of the job is being able to create a product that is used by thousands of real people. As well as solving real life problems for these people. In my current position I get to be creative, designing front-end of mobile applications which brings me great fulfilment. Also, my team is the best!

What advice would you give to someone who is not sure what pathway to take after university?

If you are not sure what path to take after university, just choose one that seems the most exciting and one that aligns with your passions and values. The only way to find out if you have chosen the right path is to make a decision and stick with it for a bit. Life is exciting make sure you have fun along the way! 

If you could have any super power, what would it be and why?

My super power would be to have all the answers for all questions a.k.a omniscience. I always find myself asking questions that I don’t have the answers for and it would save me a lot of time spent googling.

 

Samantha Woon

What did you study and where?

Bachelor of Software Engineering- University of Auckland

What attracted you to Coretex?

I was very interested in the graduate program and the opportunities that were on offer. The location was also convenient for me.

What is the best part about your job?

Working with very intelligent and knowledgeable people and working on new features that are used by lots of people is also really interesting.

What advice would you give to someone who is not sure what pathway to take after university?

Just try everything!

If you could have any super power, what would it be and why?

My super power would be to know all languages so I can understand everybody and easily travel all over the world.

 

Prasham Jhaveri

What did you study and where?

Computer Systems Engineering - University of Auckland

What attracted you to Coretex?

Coretex has a good company environment and enthusiastic staff.

What is the best part about your job?

The friendly and helpful people around me who are always willing to help me when I need it.

What advice would you give to someone who is not sure what pathway to take after university?

Do what you really enjoy and don’t be afraid to take risks and try something new.

If you could have any super power, what would it be and why?

The ability to teleport anywhere I want so I can travel around the world.

 

Brad Coleman

What did you study and where?

Software Engineering - University of Auckland

What attracted you to Coretex?

The wide range of products and technologies used within the company. Before starting I wasn’t sure what tech I wanted to work with so having several options to choose from made it enticing. 

What is the best part about your job?

I enjoy being one of the main contributors to a new app. I like that I can make impactful design decisions and see them become functional features.

What advice would you give to someone who is not sure what pathway to take after university?

Don’t be too picky, apply for as many jobs as you can. It’s much easier to know what kind of work suits you when you have some experience. Gaining this experience is crucial.

If you could have any super power, what would it be and why?

I would have telekinesis because then I could be as lazy as I want and do anything just by thinking.

 

Shunji Takano

What did you study and where?

Bachelor of Software Engineering - University of Auckland

What attracted you to Coretex?

Coretex came to UoA and gave an interesting presentation. The presenters were both passionate and smart and I wanted to work with people like them. Coretex has exciting technology and great people.

What is the best part about your job?

Being able to learn something new every day and working with such kind people.

What advice would you give to someone who is not sure what pathway to take after university?

Try and experience as many different career paths as possible, you’ll never know what you’ll like until you actually try it!

If you could have any super power, what would it be and why?

The power to have all my code work on the first try.

 

George McErlean

What did you study and where?

Bachelor of Software Engineering - University of Auckland

What attracted you to Coretex?

Coretex offers complex products with interesting and diverse problems, I was interested in the growth this would provide. Coretex mission is to create a cleaner, greener world.

What is the best part about your job?

Working with lots of friendly people who are keen to assist with my learning. And working on solving interesting and complex problems.

What advice would you give to someone who is not sure what pathway to take after university?

Don’t worry if you don’t know what you want to do, you still have lots of time to work it out. The main thing is to try something and to see what works for you.

If you could have any super power, what would it be and why?

Super speed to reduce my commute to work time.
